The Shawshank Woodshop occupies the former Stephan Lumber Company building on South Eighth Street in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, near the railroad tracks. Its working interior served as the prison woodworking shop in The Shawshank Redemption, providing another part of Shawshank's fictional environment outside the main Mansfield prison location. Red and fellow inmates are shown here during the sequence in which Andy broadcasts Mozart over the prison loudspeakers. The building's film connection continues through preserved memorabilia and screen-used objects associated with the production. It is close to the courthouse that supplied the trial scene, linking two important filming sites within Upper Sandusky.
Usually a private address. Look from the street only unless a tour or owner says otherwise.
